Meet Sandra Swanson

Sandra has over twenty years of experience supporting various global justice initiatives on topics that include gender equity solutions across sub-Saharan Africa, integrating refugees and combating sectarianism in Europe, mentorship through digital literacy in South Africa, supporting at-risk youth in the United States and driving a just transition to address climate change globally.

Sandra first learned of a Breeze of Hope (ABH) when she heard Brisa De Angulo being interviewed on NPR in 2012. After hearing her story, Sandra found a way to contact Brisa and immediately offered her help. With an extensive background in non-profit management, fundraising and consultation, she helped Brisa and Parker spread some of ABH’s earliest seeds. When the board was formed in 2013, she became one of its first members. She has remained on the board and a strong supporter of ABH ever since

.

At present, Sandra leads a Global Health Initiative at the climate change NGO, CDP based in London. There, she works alongside partners at the WHO, the Lancet and public health experts to influence and accelerate the pace and scale of sub-national climate action to ensure a healthy and just transition.

Sandra is Peruvian and British by birth and a naturalized American citizen. She believes that your geography, your gender and your past should never dictate your future – and that when women thrive, all of society benefits.

She lives with her family, including two adventurous daughters, not far from the sea in the United Kingdom. She likes flat whites, powerful fiction and hiking the UK’s South Coast Path.
